Advance Program

Advance is a partially funded government program set up to establish a broad range of program options for secondary college students. The program includes a complete uniform.

The ADVANCE program has been designed to promote:

  • Teamwork
  • Community service leadership
  • Individual responsibility
  • Self discipline
  • Skill development
  • Confidence

Schools work with a community service provider in delivering the program. At Brauer College we have worked with the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club and our students have become members of this club.

Over the two year program the students obtain many skills, including:

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Surf Life Saving Bronze Medallion / Surf Life Saving Certificate
  • Surf Camp experience
  • Duke of Edinburgh - Bronze / Silver Award
  • Surf Life Saving Competitions
  • Voluntary Surf Patrol

Students achieving this level of achievement should be justifiably proud of their qualification as very few in the community have this award. It requires a committed and determined approach to learn these new skills and develop and maintain sufficient fitness to be able to deliver in the event of an emergency.
